6 More Days, and a Week’s Worth of Adventure!

Surprise!!! Two weeks ago, my mom had planned a “family and friends Thanksgiving dinner” for me since I will be at boot camp this year. Where I thought maybe two or three other family members and a handful of my friends were coming to enjoy some turkey and mashed potatoes, turned into a going away party for me with a lot of family and friends, friends’ families, friends that are more like family, and a sound booth, neighbors, and way […]

Who Likes Chili???

I love this type of weather, it’s just cold enough that hot food is the only thing I want to eat (like chili). If you’ve never had chili before let me start off by apologizing because you are missing out, my friends. Next, you are all probably wondering what has prompted this seemingly random rant on this particular dish. Today is the Annual Chili Cook-off at my church!  I am extremely excited because chili is one of my favorite meals […]

T-38 Days and Counting!!!

Hello all my wonderful followers! Today is a momentous landmark for me. It is the start of my final push toward becoming a United States Sailor. Back Home Again… That’s right, I’m moving out of my apartment and going back home to my mom’s. Now most people wouldn’t want to admit that, but I am so blessed and truly thankful to my mom for offering to let me bring my many boxes of stuff to her house to save me […]

Posting fail

Well my lovely followers, I said maybe later that night about a week ago and still hadn’t updated you on the experience from the BSU vs. ISU Football game. Ball State lost 27-20 but I got some really good pictures for it being the first time I’ve ever tried to shoot photos at a non-high school football game. You can check these photos out at the Muncie Free Press Facebook page by clicking here. Thank you all again for your […]

Festival Fun in Muncie, IN

Today I got the opportunity to attend the 38th annual Old Washington Street Festival. Old Washington Street is a historic neighborhood in Muncie. The East Central Neighborhood association has hosted the event since 1967 to fund community activities and to help restore some of the old houses. I spoke with Liz McDonald, a volunteer from the association who was giving tours of the Emily Kimbrough house. “It’s very cool what they are doing here,” she said, “they are starting restorations […]

Journey Onward!

A Few Changes First off, I changed the name of the blog because I wanted it to more reflect me. Second, I plan on writing a lot more to let you all go with me on the journey I have decided to embark on. Now What? If you’ve been following me, then you know that I joined the US Navy Reserves. I will be leaving in November for Boot Camp at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois. After what […]

Making Decisions…

Have you ever felt that there was more in store for your life? That what you are doing now is merely a stepping stone to something greater? That’s how I have felt since I started Photojournalism classes in college. Different opportunities are being brought forth and it just yells “HEY YOU COULD BE DOING THIS!” and I honestly believe I could. I know that in order to get where I want to go, I am going to have to take […]

Generation Gap: Simplicity vs. Technology

Do any of you remember this show? Puppets and a lady named Holly teaching kids good behavior and simple things like how to blow their nose into a handkerchief. It was simple. In the episode called “Hanky Panky,” the three puppets had colds and were given handkerchiefs to use. Instead of blowing their noses, they played babies and cowboys and other games. They used only their handkerchiefs and a few simple other toys, but they had fun the whole day. […]

Crazy little thing…

Yup, I’m talking about love. Now I know people are going to say, “you are only 21, you can’t possibly know what love is.” Actually, I can. The bible gives us a pretty good description as to what love should be. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (KJV) 4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, […]

College Life and Keeping the Faith

Everywhere I look, there are things that are trying to convince me that my God is not real. There are groups on campus that are allowed to set up tables and sell stuff that is very against my personal beliefs, but you don’t see me starting a petition to have them removed. Though I am pretty sure that if we set up a table for Christianity, on a regular basis, there would be a march on the atrium. I see […]
